As the 2025-2026 school year approaches, McIntosh Memorial Library is proud to continue the Vernon County Stuff the Bus initiative in collaboration with the Vernon County Health Department. Now in its third year, this community-driven program is designed to provide essential school supplies and backpacks to students in need throughout Vernon County.

About Stuff the Bus: The goal of Stuff the Bus is to ensure that every student—whether they are in Pre-K or High School—has the supplies they need to succeed in the classroom. We recognize that financial constraints should never be a barrier to a child’s educational journey, and through Stuff the Bus, we offer backpacks and school supplies at no cost to eligible students.

How It Works: Students and parents are invited to register for the program to receive the necessary supplies. The process is simple—just complete the registration form available on our website (Link above) within the registration window. We encourage community members, organizations, and educators to help spread the word and ensure those in need are aware of this valuable resource.

How You Can Help: This is a community effort, and we rely on donations from individuals and local businesses to make the program a success. Whether you’re interested in donating supplies, volunteering, or simply sharing information about Stuff the Bus, your involvement makes a significant impact on the lives of students across Vernon County. Please contact Maggie Strittmater for a list of materials needed.

A Message from Maggie Strittmater, Adult Programming and Outreach Coordinator: “Our goal is to ensure that every child has the resources they need to succeed in school, regardless of their circumstances. By providing these essential supplies, we are not only helping to level the playing field but also empowering students to reach their full potential.”

Get Involved: For more information or to inquire about how you can contribute to this program, please contact Maggie Strittmater at [email protected] or call 608-637-7151 ext. 7. Your support is crucial in helping us make the 2025-2026 school year a successful one for every student in Vernon County.
