Garden Space
Located across the street from the library and behind the Viroqua Welcome Center.
- This space is open for people to visit, and see the impact of the Viroqua’s Growing Forward Together Garden initiative.
- The garden is an equitable donation garden. The produce grown in the garden is donated to individuals who are low income. Produce is also used for educational purposes.
Vision
An equally shared, green public space located in the heart of downtown Viroqua on city property near a community hub of education, the McIntosh Memorial Library.
A variety of strategically designed raised beds create ease of access for senior citizens, those that are experiencing disability and small children.
A central seating area provides plenty of space for community members to safely gather for outdoor education about gardening and nutrition.
Growing Together WI
FoodWIse and Master Gardeners!
The Growing Together WI project is working towards improved food security, safety and health for FoodShare eligible participants in Wisconsin.
Growing Together WI encourages collaboration between FoodWIse education staff and Master Gardener Volunteers to promote healthy food access and availability through garden spaces.
This collaborative effort can take place in a variety of ways such as development and maintenance of community garden spaces for limited income audiences, garden produce donations to food pantries, and teaching limited income audiences how to grow their own food.
Together we can make a difference!
