Boba Book Clubs

McIntosh Memorial Library and Viroqua Middle/High School Library have joined together to connect middle school aged students to adult community leaders through books!

This collaborative project is named “Boba Book Clubs”.

Students in grades 5-8 from all Viroqua area schools are welcome to participate. (See below for sign up information).

The program began in September 2022 and will conclude in April 2023.

Students and adult volunteers can choose which month(s) they want to participate based upon their availability. Those interested can sign up to participate at any time between September 2022 – April 2023.

Students are grouped together to form book clubs based upon their book choice of the month. They discuss the book with each other, librarians, and an adult volunteer. All adult volunteers are approved by the McIntosh Memorial Library Director.

There are new book choices offered each month. All of the book choices are WEMTA Battle of the Books selections. Which means participating students also qualify for Battle of the Books  state-wide competition beginning in February 2023!

Viroqua Middle/High School hosts a mid-month breakfast in the Middle/High School Library to encourage reading and discussions. Creative writing activities are provided. (See schedule of events link below).

McIntosh Memorial Library hosts an end of the month party in the Library’s Lobby to celebrate the reading accomplishments. Food, boba tea drinks, and activities are provided. (See schedule of events link below).
